Job Description


Assist and enable infants, toddlers and their families to have access to services provided under Missouri’s early intervention program, First Steps. Fulfill the role of Mentor and supervisor to Family Service Coordinators and Administrative staff for the purpose of First Steps definitions and solicits and ensures the purpose of the Early Intervention Teaming model.


Function in both the intake and on-going services role and shall serve as the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) team family service coordinator and facilitator of the IFSP process for a predetermined case load assigned by Assistant Director/Director.

Performs all specific job responsibilities as determined in the Family Service Coordinator job description.

Provide and ensure oversight and monitoring of providers as it pertains to the elements of: (1) quality of service provision, (2) support of the Missouri early intervention teaming model, (3) oversight of general billing issues.

Coordinate and monitor the delivery of available services and is direct contact for the early intervention team regarding staffing needs.

1. Work with little direct supervision, be organized, and must meet timelines and deadlines to accomplish the administrative functions of the SPOE operation.

2. Provide training and mentoring of new family service coordinators within the designated zone area.

3. Monitor calendar activities for family service coordinators within their zone.

4. Responsible for implementing work improvement plans as needed. Will confer with Assistant Director throughout the process.

5. Perform child find and provider recruitment activities.

6. Assist families in identifying available service providers.

7. Inform families of available advocacy services.

8. Communicate and coordinate services with medical and health providers.

9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child/Human Development, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Nursing, Psychology.
