Job Description

Entry level position, will support adults with disabilities in a manufacturing environment learn skills to increase their employability and independence.

This hands-on position will assist individuals to stay on task, learn new job skills and learn to work successfully with others. Position with assist  with toileting when needed.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruct clients on a daily basis by use of demonstration, modeling, verbal instruction and behavior modification techniques. Training and instruction will be utilized toward change or modification of necessary skills and behaviors to enhance the individual client’s identification with the worker role. Works directly with clients having various disabilities/handicaps including mental retardation, developmental disabilities, mental illness, behavioral disorders, educational/social deficits, cerebral palsy and various physical disabilities (paralysis, hearing/visual impairments, amputees, etc.) Work directly with assign Industrial Operations customer to assure quality products delivered on a timely basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise daily individual behavior and report findings.

  2. Stay current on all individuals ISP goals, meds, and behavior plans in their individual caseload.

  3. Maintain ISO 9001 operator work instructions on all assigned Industrial Operation customers.

  4. Supply assigned individuals with necessary work tools, supplies, and operator work instructions.

  5. Assign work tasks to individuals base on their skills and abilities driven by customer production needs.

  6. Individual/group instruction regarding positive work behaviors, acceptable work performance, positive work attitudes, work relationships, etc.

  7. Reasonable suspicion of a crime against an ICF/MR resident must be reported to Indiana State Department of Health and Law Enforcement (Elder Justice Act).

  8. Instruct individuals regarding use of hand tools, equipment, organization of work, safety, etc.

  9. Participate in daily production meeting held every morning by Focus Area Manager.

  10. Prepare 11th month Individual Support Plan Assessment for all individuals on their posted caseload.

  11. Prepare monthly ISP review report on assigned individuals in their caseload.

  12. Maintain current working file for all individuals on their caseload.

  13. Document and reports safety problems/individuals incidents.

  14. Document daily production information as necessary for reporting to the Focus Area Manager.

  15. Documents daily individual activity on an on‑going basis throughout the work day, recording time, jobs assigned, piece counts, etc., as necessary to determine individual pay.

  16. Complies with all department and agency policies and procedures.

  17. Monitor individuals as necessary during break and lunch periods.

  18. Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately to supervisor or department head.

  19. Other duties as assigned.

  20. Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all individuals.

  21. Report to work as scheduled.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Safety conscious

  2. Strong communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.

  2. Prefer college/university exposure and degree.

  3. Prefer experience in training and/or experience in industry.

  4. Forklift Certification as required.

  5. Valid drivers license.
