Job Description

POSTION TITLE: Red Cedar Riding Instructor

REPORTS TO:     Director and Assistant Director

SUPERVISES:     Volunteers when applicable

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide professional equestrian instructions and leadership to students of all ages and abilities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential:

  1. Instruct progressive riding classes in English or Western seats, horsemanship, equitation, trail, jumping, vaulting, dressage, therapy or other aspects of horses.
  2. Supervise students at all times during their lesson.
  3. To provide and maintain a clean and safe riding atmosphere.
  4. To attend all meetings, training sessions and facility improvement days.
  5. To become certified and maintain a certification through CHA or PATH, Intl.
  6. Enforce all policies and procedures adopted by this agency
  7. Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of the clients and staff.
  8. Maintain good attendance while employed
  9. All other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential:

  1. To organize and teach responsible horse care and management.
  2. Organize equipment and teach animal care responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. CHA Certification or PATH, Intl Certification preferred
  2. High School diploma or GED
  3. In depth horse knowledge and experience: minimal 6 years riding experience.
  4. Ability to work outside in a barn atmosphere
  5. Hardworking and self motivated.
  6. Ability to work without direct supervision.
  7. Must be safety conscious
