Job Description

Position Title: Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS)

Service Area:  Cities – South Miami, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Homestead, Kendal, Palmetto Bay along with Upper, Middle, Lower Keys.

Reports To: Program Director

Supervises: None

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incorporate parent/caregiver involvement in order to encourage follow-through and intervention of the developmental skills in all aspects of the child’s daily life (Birth – 3 years).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assessment of developmental need to assist in determining eligibility for services

  2. Provide families with information, skills and support related to enhancing their child’s development.

  3. Include direct activities with the child designed to enhance the child’s development in one or more domains, including: cognition, adaptive functions, social/emotional skills, motor development and communication.

  4. Promote activities in the “natural setting” to enhance implementation of the IFSP.

  5. Complete necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement through primary funding sources. (i.e., Medicaid, private insurance, etc.).

  6. Comply with Florida’s Early Steps Program with regard to continuing education, etc.

  7. Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately to supervisor or department head.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

  9. Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all individuals.

  10. Report to work as scheduled.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to multi-task

  2. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external entities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Florida Driver’s License.

  2. Baccalaureate and/or Masters and/or Doctorate degree in special education, deaf education, elementary education, early childhood or Child Development, Licensed as Registered Nurse, or related field with special education teaching license and 12 months supervised early intervention experience.

  3. Meets criteria for Early Steps Provider Enrollment.
